JII’s Intellectual Property practice encompasses diverse aspects of IP law. The JII team has steadily built up a good reputation in trademark, patent and copyright law. In recent years, our practice has been evolving to include the handling of diverse IP matters in the electronic environment. Among these matters we have dealt with the development, assignment and licensing of IP rights in and to a wide variety of software and hardware products. We have also provided solutions, opinions on the validity and infringement of IP rights, as well as given advice on ownership/inventorship issues.

JII’s practice also includes IP litigation, notably, in the field of trademarks and patents. The members of our IP law practice combine a thorough grounding in procedural law with being knowledgeable in various technical fields. This powerful combination contributes to our legal and technical strengths.

Our team also provides counselling and representation in different administrative procedures related inter alia to applications for the registration of trademarks (local trademarks, Community trademarks, and international trademarks), patents, designs, as well as fort he filing of oppositions based on the right of priority, as well as requests for the annulment of trademarks.

For the last couple of years, the JII team has been consulting on a daily basis with start-up companies operating in the field of Information Technologies and the Internet. These companies have been granted financing under the Joint European Resources for Micro to Medium Enterprises Program (JEREMIE) which was developed by the European Commission in co-operation with the European Investment Bank Group and other financial institutions in the framework of the EU 2007-2013 programming period. We have devoted our time, effort and expertise to helping these young professionals to lay the foundations of their business and we have guided them through the perils and challenges of expanding their operations both in Bulgaria and abroad.
